Nigerians react to Ibrahim Chatta’s 2023 AMVCA snub

Nigerians have reacted to Ibrahim Chatta’s omission from the nominations for the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards, or AMVCA, due to his prominence in Nollywood.

Multichoice announced the nomination lists for the upcoming 2023 awards a few days ago. During the announcement, Nollywood stars such as Kunle Afolayan, Femi Adebayo, Funke Akindele, and others received significant nominations.

Funke Akindele received ten nominations for her box office smash, Battle on Buka Street. She was nominated in nine AMVCA categories for Battle on Buka Street, and one for her Africa Magic series, My Siblings & I.

A Nollywood movie influencer noticed Ibrahim Chatta’s omission from Femi Adebayo’s film King of Thieves’ nomination. His pivotal role was instrumental in the film’s success.

Sharing their thoughts online, many noted that Ibrahim Chatta is a brilliant actor who is good at interpreting different roles perfectly. He has delivered perfectly well since the first time he appeared on the screen as an actor.

One Ibukunoluwa wrote: Make e no act any other scene for that movie, This scene alone deserves an award!!! He is an extraordinary actor.

One Moyinoluwa wrote, “Ibrahim Chatta is an ENIGMA. Whether nominated or not…I dare say, ‘U ARE A PHENOMENAL THESPIAN”

One Olawunmi wrote, “Ibrahim Chatta is underrated asf, there is no role he does not do justice to.”

“Na because of him I actually like that AGESINKOLE movie” Call me shine commented.

Another user, Bukky Majek wrote: I still don’t know why this great actor has always been underrated shush well, doesn’t change the fact that he’s the best actor of his generation

In like manner, netizens condemned the organizers of AMVCA for omitting the lead role of Kunle Afolayan’s ANIKULAPO, Kunle Remi. His role as Saro was one of the reasons many watched the movies.
