Actress Aisha Lawal says she narrowly escaped death on Tuesday night when an explosion ripped through the Bodija neighbourhood of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

The filmmaker posted on Instagram that her ears were still hurting from the blast’s effects.

“Alhamdulilahi for today, I was at bodija when the explosion happened, in fact my ears are still ringing from the effect. Thank God for our lives,” she wrote.

Explaining further where she was at the time of the explosion, Aisha wrote, “I even parked to buy suya opposite that estate o, I now later moved my car from sloggers club to metro hotel on dt same osuntokun when it happened.”

The actress alleged there were “too many dead bodies,” a claim which countered Governor Seyi Makinde’s statement that two died while 77 were injured.

On Wednesday, Aisha made a video of herself on Instagram singing in a car in appreciation to God. She said in the caption that she was fine and thanked everyone for their concern.

Makinde earlier said preliminary investigations revealed that the blast was caused by explosive devices stored in a building by illegal miners.

The governor told the media when he visited the scene of the explosion on Tuesday night that anyone found culpable would be brought to book.

“Preliminary investigations by the security agencies revealed that illegal miners occupying one of the houses in Bodija had stored explosive devices there which caused the blast. The investigations are ongoing. All those found culpable for this will be brought to book,” he wrote on social media.
