Reno Omokri, a former presidential media aide, has revealed the reason why he interviewed singer Naira Marley concerning the allegations against him on the death of Mohbad, his former signee.

Mr Omokri said in an Instagram post on Thursday that he wanted to get the 32-year-old’s side of the story.

“I know what it means to be falsely accused. I’m not saying he’s being falsely accused, but I wanted to get the other side of the story because there is a danger in a one-sided story,” he said.

Omokri also debunked rumours that he was paid by the Marlian Music boss for the interview, saying that everyone has a right to be heard.

“You have to understand that people deserve a right to be heard. They don’t deserve a right to be believed, but they deserve a right to be heard. And for those people who are saying that Naira Marley paid me. Listen, if Naira Marley paid me, let’s have a spiritual pact, may God punish me and may I never progress if that is true but if that is a lie may God find you out and give you the judgement that you deserve. People deserve to be heard and I’ve put out the interview there. Listen to it, make up your own mind,” he said.

Omokri released his interview with Naira Marley on Wednesday across his social media platforms and his YouTube channel.

Naira Marley stated in the interview that he tried to get help for Mohbad.

“Something was probably wrong with him, I was just trying to see what was wrong with him,” he said.

The ‘Soapy’ singer also stated that he would return to Nigeria for police questioning if they could assure him of his safety.

“There’s a lot of angry mob that I really don’t want to hear. They’ve been poisoned by the media. So If they can guarantee my safety, I’ll be there,” he said.

Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12, leaving behind his wife, five-month-old son and parents.
