Ikechukwu Ogbona, aka IVD, was arraigned before the Lagos State High Court in Ikeja on Monday for the alleged manslaughter of his late wife, Abimbola Ogbonna.

Bimbo died on October 15, 2022, as a result of an injury sustained in a fire incident caused by violence in their home in Megamound Estate in the state’s Lekki area.

The Lagos State Government charged IVD with one count of involuntary manslaughter in suit No. LD/21055C/23.

On Monday, at the resumed hearing of the case, the prosecuting counsel, Adeshola Bello, informed the court that there was a mistake in the date the alleged offence was committed.

He said: “We have October 10 on record, but the date was October 12.”

Bello further urged the court to grant the prosecution permission to make an amendment, which the court granted.

Also, the prosecution counsel said that the alleged offence contravened Section 229 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

IVD pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Victor Ogunde, SAN, sought bail for the defendant.

Justice Nicole-Clay, however, adjourned the case till 30th of March, 24 and 25 May 2023, for the commencement of trial.
