Courtney Clenney, an American model, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of her Nigerian boyfriend, Christian Obumseli.

The model known professionally as Courtney Tailor was arrested earlier this month by the Hawaii Police Department.

According to the department, a warrant has been issued for Clenney’s arrest on suspicion of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, the influencer entered a written plea of not guilty to one count of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon on August 18.

She is also scheduled to appear in court on August 31.

Clenney’s lawyer, Frank Prieto, said after her arrest that the police action was shocking because there was “clear evidence of self-defense in this matter.”

Miami police discovered Obumseli bleeding and Clenney covered in blood in April. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead by a doctor.

His death occurred just a week before his 28th birthday.
