As the week comes to an end, ER brings you the biggest Entertainment news stories from Nigeria for the week.

Tiwa Savae wrote to Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fayode Adegoke Mustapha regarding an alleged threat made against her by fellow musician Davido.

The dispute began when both parties unfollowed each other on Instagram, leading many to believe that Davido unfollowed Tiwa because of her closeness with his baby mama Sophia Momodu, with whom he is currently at odds.

Things turned for the worse when Tiwa Savage’s ex-husband Teebillz threatened to teach Davido a lesson for “disrespecting his family.”

Ealier this week, a documentary which was released by the BBC, revealing unsettling accusations surrounding the late Prophet TB Joshua stirred up the Nigerian media space.

Here are the highlights of the week’s biggest news stories, from January 7 to January 13, 2023.

Tiwa Savage vs Davido

Following allegation of threat of life, the Lagos Police Command has initiated an investigation into singer Tiwa Savage’s appeal against her colleague Davido.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed this in a statement released on Wednesday.

I can confirm that we received the petition. We have began investigation,” he said.

In the petition dated January 9, addressed to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, Tiwa alleged that Davido made a “direct threat to my rights to life, privacy and dignity of my person”.

The petition read: “I am writing to bring to your attention a distressing situation involving myself, Tiwatope Omolara Savage, popularly known as Tiwa Savage, and Mr David Adeleke popularly known as Davido.

“On the 23rd of December, I made a post which included myself and Sophía Momodu on my Instagram Story- a feature on Instagram which allows you to put up a post for twenty-four hours, and Mr David Adeleke sent messages to my manager who’s also part of his management team that I shouldn’t worry and should never say a word to him and that I was taunting him, uttering very disrespectful, malicious and derogatory words to my person.

Ngozi Ezeonu dead?

Actress Ngozi Ezeonu has debunked a report about her death.

The 58-year-old left her 1.6 million followers on Instagram worried on Saturday after she posted a photo of a burning candle with the caption: “A rare gem is gone.”

Some media reports subsequently claimed that the actress had died and her son confirmed it.

However, in a video shared via Instagram on Tuesday, the Glamour Girls star revealed that she made the post because she lost a dear friend.

On Wednesday, Ngozi Ezeonu shared another video on Instagram in which she debunked the death report, saying that she is alive and healthy.

The movie star faulted the bloggers who reported her death, adding that the burning candle she posted was for her friend whom she lost.

Ini Edo hearts Ik Ogbonna?

Actor Ik Ogbonna has reacted to Ini Edo’s birthday message, which has reignited suspicions about the duo’s romantic relationship.

On Thursday, Ini wrote a sweet message to the 40-year-old on Instagram.

The actress praised Ik Ogbonna, describing him as nice, loving, and sweet.

She wrote: “It’s world Okeosisi day. Happy birthday, king! You are amazing, kind, sweet, brave, loving, smart, to me, an Old wise man and above all … you have the purest of heart. May the universe align with your every dream and may the goodness of your heart attract only and all the goodness of this world, and may Your days be filled with peace, Joy and laughter… Happy birthday My love.”

Reacting in the comment section of the post, Ik wrote: “Thanks. Love you always.”

The actor’s response further fueled rumours about their relationship as many stormed the comment section of the post to congratulate the alleged couple.

This comes months after an Instagram blogger identified as Cutie Juls claimed the movie stars are in a romantic relationship.

Tonto vs VeryDarkMan

VeryDarkMan, a popular social media critic, has stated that Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh should be held responsible if anything happens to him.

Dikeh dragged VeryDarkMan to the police when he claimed that the actress and her colleague, Iyabo Ojo, had no genuine interest in the late musician Mohbad’s case.

He was eventually released after interrogation.

Speaking after regaining freedom in a video message shared via his X handle, VeryDarkMan alleged that Dikeh has been threatening his life.

He stated that he now lives in constant fear.

He said, “Tonto Dikeh has threatened me and I’m scared for my life at this point. If anything happens to me, hold Tonto Dikeh accountable.”

TB Joshua documentary

Rita Edochie, an actress and strong admirer of Prophet TB Joshua, has described the BBC documentary about the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) as an affront to “black people and the body of Christ”.

The 59-year-old made the remark in a lengthy Instagram post on Thursday, following the release of a three-part documentary about an alleged sexual assault, torture, manufactured miracles, and other incidents on January 8.

Former disciples and supporters of the late televangelist levelled the charges.

Weighing in on the controversy, Rita said people are quick to jump to conclusions in matters that require investigation and she feels sorry for those who make it a habit of escalating topics without proper investigation.

In a related development, Chukwuemeka Okoye known as Frodd, a Big Brother Naija reality star, has revealed how the late Prophet TB Joshua provided him a university scholarship and fed him for three months.

Frodd expressed this in a recent Instagram post in response to a BBC documentary about the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

Similarly, Singer Victor Adere, also known as Victor AD, has spoken about how he was healed of skin condition after meeting the late Prophet TB Joshua, the founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).

Victor revealed this in a post on X on January 10, while criticising a BBC documentary about the late televangelist.

The 30-year-old said Joshua fed and gave his family shelter when they were homeless and none of his miracles were staged.

Terry G quits music

Rapper Gabriel Oche Amanyi, better known as Terry G, has announced that he is quitting music for personal reasons.

The 37-year-old made the revelation in an Instagram video posted on Saturday.

“I’m about to say a big thank you to my fans for staying with me through the years back to back, I am about to make a big announcement, I know it’s gonna hurt a lot of people. I have my personal reasons. I am quitting music. I no dey do again. I’m done and I really appreciate you guys for showing me so m, such love, God bless you,” he wrote.

This comes days after the musician expressed his disappointment with fellow musicians who have allegedly been ignoring his messages during challenging times.
