The management of the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, has recognised Ngozi Kekwaru, a member of its staff, for returning $70,000 misplaced by a customer in one of the suites.

Kekwaru is from the Rundele community in Rivers State’s Emuoha Local Government Area (LGA).

On July 27, she was presented with an award of excellence by the hotel’s management.

Chidi Lloyd, the chairman of the Emohua LGA, has also approved her appointment as the local government’s brand ambassador.

On Thursday, August 3, 2023, the chairman will formally introduce her as the LGA’s brand ambassador.

Earlier, presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 poll Peter Obi said that Kekwaru deserves national honour.

“When will Nigeria start celebrating the likes of Miss Ngozi Mary for her honesty and integrity, Teacher Akeem Badru, for winning the 2023 Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Award, and many others like them?

“These are the people who deserve to be given national honours and awards and recognition, instead of celebrating those who have impacted our nation negatively. In the New Nigeria that we desire, these are the kind of people that will be celebrated. A New Nigeria is POssible,” he wrote on social media.

Singer Davido has already given her some money as reward.
