Chidinma Anita Chukwudum, a 16-year-old girl, has been reported missing after leaving Festac Town, Lagos, for Abuja to meet a person she met on Facebook who promised to send her to Germany.

Anita’s mother, Mrs. Uche Chukwudum, reportedly stated that her daughter was last seen on September 18.

Anita finished secondary school this year, took the JAMB exam, and is currently awaiting admission to Lagos State University LASU, according to her mother. She claimed that on Sunday, Anita packed her suitcase covertly from their family home for Abuja.

Anita had been communicating with a person via Facebook who offered to take her to Germany in search of greener pastures, according to Mrs. Chukwudum. The person she had been chatting with on Facebook then convinced her to pack her bags and move to Abuja, where they agreed to arrange her travel documents so she could depart for Germany.

The distraught mum said Chidinma while leaving the house left a note saying she has gone and will work towards making her family proud.

Mrs. Chukwudum said Anita’s sister was able to gain access to her Facebook account and saw all her chats with the person in Abuja. She said the matter has been reported to the police. She said the security agents have been able to track the area where her daughter is but have been unable to locate the house she is being held.

She says anyone with useful information as to locate her daughter should please call 08033072719 or contact the nearest police station.
