Nollywood actress and African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State, Doris Ogala, is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, after she suddenly lost consciousness and collapsed on Friday, June 5, 2026.

The incident occurred during a consultation earlier in the day, prompting an emergency rush to the hospital. Ogala was later stabilised and took to her Instagram to update her followers and well-wishers. Captioning a video of herself at the health facility, she wrote:

“I was rushed to FMC Umuahia. I lost consciousness. Glory to God I am stabilised now.”

In the circulating video, the actress was seen in a wheelchair, interacting warmly with patients and staff. She went further by praying with them, showing her characteristic energy even while recovering.

Ogala recently emerged as the AAC candidate for the 2027 Abia governorship election, positioning herself as a challenger to incumbent Governor Alex Otti.

The health scare has triggered intense reactions online. While some commended her for showing strength and compassion by engaging with other patients, many others expressed scepticism, with some netizens labelling the entire episode a “publicity stunt” or “Nollywood drama” linked to her political ambitions.

Others questioned her fitness for the rigours of a gubernatorial campaign and urged her to prioritise full recovery before continuing her political journey.

This development comes shortly after reports of a recent surgery, which some sources link to the collapse as a possible relapse.
