Rising Afrobeats star Qing Madi and her former label, JTON Entertainment, have intensified their public battle over management contracts, career rights, and alleged breaches as both parties present conflicting accounts of a recent court ruling.

JTON Entertainment had earlier issued a press release defending its position and denying any threats or harassment against the artiste.

In response, KFMD Label, which now manages Qing Madi (Amanda Pearl Chukwuma), released a detailed counter-statement, setting out what it describes as the true position on the court ruling and the events leading to the dispute.

KFMD directly challenged JTON’s claim that the artiste first approached the court.“JTON brought this case. The artist did not,” the statement asserted, clarifying that JTON is the Claimant in the suit before the High Court of Lagos State.

The management team addressed the May 25, 2026 ruling by Hon. Justice T.B. Sunmonu. According to KFMD, the court found that the management contracts signed when Qing Madi was 16 were voidable infancy contracts under the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State. They claimed she validly repudiated them upon reaching adulthood, affirming her right to choose her manager and release music outside JTON’s platform.

However, they acknowledged a narrow temporary order granted to JTON restraining the use of specific recordings financed under the disputed contracts pending the full hearing. KFMD stressed that this does not affect her independent catalogue or overall career freedom.

The statement also raised serious allegations against JTON, including failure to conduct yearly audits, lack of transparency on expenses, blocked access to a Coogan account meant to protect her earnings as a minor, and an alleged conflict of interest involving legal representation during her Sony/Columbia Records deal.

KFMD further accused JTON of sending notices to streaming platforms and promoters that allegedly misrepresent the court order, claiming this has affected her releases and live performances.

“Qing Madi is free, she is releasing music, and she is building her career with a team of her choosing,” KFMD declared, while JTON maintains it is only protecting its legitimate investments and contractual rights through lawful means.
