Nollywood superstar Mercy Aigbe has opened up about a degrading experience with a ‘powerful’ female producer who spoke to her condescendingly and demanded she seek permission before accepting other jobs.
In a recent video that has gone viral, the award-winning actress and producer narrated the shocking encounter. According to her, the unnamed producer initially did not recognize her and responded rudely when she called about a project.
“The woman was like, ‘Who is Mercy? I don’t have time. Better introduce yourself properly, or else I will cut the phone.”
The producer reportedly said the only Mercy she knew was Mercy Johnson and questioned why Aigbe was calling her. When Mercy explained that her production manager had reached out earlier, the producer allegedly asked where she was and which permission she took to be filming another movie in Ibadan.
The arrogant producer then delivered a shocking condition:
“If you want me to be calling you for my job, you need to be taking permission from me before you can work with other people.”
Mercy Aigbe described the incident as deeply humiliating but used it as a lesson in resilience. This revelation comes as Mercy continues to thrive in her career, recently celebrating 20 years in the industry and winning
