Davido’s elder sister Sharon Ademefun has drawn attention with a frank admission about her approach to fashion spending. The entrepreneur and mother of three made clear that she no longer sees value in pouring large sums into clothing, even as someone from a high-profile family.

Speaking in a recent interview with The Fashion Round Table, Sharon said she simply does not believe in buying expensive clothes.

“I don’t really believe in buying expensive clothes, me personally. I believe that there are some things that are worth it,” she explained.

She pointed to the rising cost of formal wear as an example of prices that no longer make sense to her.

“When I’m hearing that a wedding guest dress is $10,000, a wedding guest dress they’re all the same price now,” she noted.

Sharon looked back on her own 2013 wedding in Miami to illustrate her point. Her husband paid $2,000 for her wedding dress while she covered the outfits for her 13 bridesmaids and an extra four or five hostesses.

“Altogether, I spent less than $10,000 on everything,” she recalled.

She acknowledged that the total depended on where she shopped, yet the experience reinforced her current stance.

“I just feel like there are certain things that I’m not willing to pay for anymore. So I don’t believe in overly expensive clothes,” she added.

The statement comes as Sharon, who turns 40 next year, also announced a clear boundary with local fashion.

“I’m turning 40 next year, and I’ve made an executive decision, unfortunately, I’m sorry to say this, that I will not be participating with any Nigerian designer directly,” she said.

The decision marks a shift for the businesswoman, who has previously built her own clothing line focused on inclusive sizing and continues to play a key role managing aspects of her brother’s finances.

Her comments have sparked discussion online about value, personal priorities, and how public figures approach luxury. While some see her stance as practical and mature, others note the contrast with the high-spending image often associated with celebrity circles.
