Media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, known as Daddy Freeze, says struggling men should never marry the first daughter of a poor man unless they already have generational wealth behind them.
His reason is money, not romance. In his telling, a first daughter from a poor home arrives with a family to uplift, and a man who is still hustling cannot carry that load without being used and left.
“As a man, never marry the first born daughter of a poor man unless you’re extremely wealthy,” he said.
He drew a hard line on what wealthy means.
“I don’t mean civil service wealthy, I mean generational wealth wealthy. Do not marry an Ada unless you or your father has a lot of money.”
He aimed the warning at men who are still coming up.
“I have said it a lot. Don’t set yourself up. This message is for those of you that are still upcoming. If you’re still hustling and struggling, do not marry poor first born daughters.”
Then he named the expected consequence.
“First daughters from poor families are problems to poor men. They are called the expanders of poverty. They will use you to upgrade themselves and their families and very often leave you once they’re done with the upgrading.”
Critics were already saying birth order does not decide character, and that a lastborn from a rich family can still bring trouble. A similar argument went viral in February, when a woman told first daughters from struggling homes not to marry for love.
