Nollywood actress Oluebube Obio has claimed she was forced to appear at an All Progressives Congress campaign event and that her life and safety are not guaranteed. She made the statement after videos of her at the gathering triggered angry comments online.

The backlash followed clips that showed her at an APC campaign. Earlier reports showed that she joined President Bola Tinubu’s second-term campaign in Bayelsa State. Critics asked why she showed up. Some accused her of selling out. She answered that the pictures did not tell the full story.

“To all those people angrily shading and insulting me as in relation to the ongoing Apc campaign, I understand your pains and know that you guys are disappointed in me, but there’s something deep to it,” she wrote.

Then she made the claim that is now driving the story.

“I was actually forced to be in such settings, my life and safety is not guaranteed, if you watch the video closely, I myself felt so much discomfort and stressed up.”

She also said she is being blackmailed and that she will name names later.

“When the time is right I will expose the people blackmailing me, the least you can do is to pray for me.”

She did not identify who allegedly forced her, who is blackmailing her, or what hold they have over her.

Reactions split fast. Some users asked who forced her and doubted the claim. Others said she should take whatever payment came with the appearance and move on. A few dismissed the explanation outright. None of those replies confirmed or disproved her account. They only showed how little patience the public has for celebrities at political rallies.
