Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has dismissed the renewed focus on President Bola Tinubu’s educational credentials as bordering on madness, especially as the country looks ahead to the 2027 presidential election.

In a strongly worded Facebook post that quickly spread across social media, Doyle expressed clear frustration at critics who keep returning to the same certificate questions.

“The obsession with Asiwaju’s educational credentials every election cycle is bordering on the psychotic if you ask me,” he stated.

Doyle pointed out that Tinubu has already overcome the issue multiple times.

“The man has won elections no less than 4 times on the basis or in spite of the credentials he filed.”

He then turned his attention to those still hoping the same approach will suddenly succeed in 2027.

“Yet, on this 5th and final occasion that he has to contest an election, some overly optimistic pessimists believe that a ploy that has been repeatedly attempted and which so far has failed, even as far as up to the Supreme Court will now suddenly resonate and work.”

Doyle left no room for doubt about his verdict.

“If that is not the classical definition of insanity, I wonder what else is.”

The comments come amid fresh debates triggered by the publication of candidates’ credentials by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 polls. Critics have again questioned the absence of certain primary and secondary school documents and other records linked to Tinubu.

Doyle’s post drew mixed reactions from Nigerians. Some praised the actor for speaking his mind, while others insisted that questions about educational qualifications remain valid regardless of past election outcomes.
