The fiancé of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has made a startling allegation about the circumstances of her death, claiming she passed away at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Prophet Itunu Onadeko, Shepherd-in-charge of CCC Onibuore Cathedral in Bogije, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, shared the claim in an interview. He said an unidentified person called him around midnight to break the news.
“It was a random person that called me around 12 am that she died in a police station in Ikorodu. Although I don’t know the police station she died but I reported myself in a nearby one.”
The 40-year-old actress, known for her roles in Yoruba Nollywood films, died in early August 2026.

She is scheduled to be laid to rest on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Iperu Remo, Ogun State. The funeral service will hold between 10am and 11am at Saint James Anglican Church, followed by interment at Iperu Remo Cemetery. Mourners have been asked to wear white.
According to Onadeko, Osoba had gone to visit Mrs Kehinde Osoba, who runs a church, accompanied by her hairdresser shortly before the incident. He said they maintained communication until the end.
“She had insisted to see Mrs Kehinde Osoba, she also has a church, although she said she wanted to see me too. When they left for there, I told them that I wasn’t chanced to go that day because of church programmes. The hairdresser that Tope was sleeping in her place was the person that went with her. We maintained communication and she even posted ‘Ogo tun tun’ until I heard that she died in the police station,” he explained.
Onadeko strongly dismissed suggestions that breast cancer complications caused her death. Osoba had publicly shared her battle with the disease, undergone surgery, and later announced her recovery and return to the industry after treatment. He recalled praying for her ahead of the procedure.
“When I first met her, after I did a redemption prayer for her, she told me she wants to do a surgery on cancer. I prayed for her. In fact the day, she planned for her surgery, she did a skit with Boda Wasiu and then we moved to Evacare Hospital,” he said.
He also denied rumours that he misused funds donated for her medical care, including claims involving large sums and support from businessman Mike Adenuga. Onadeko insisted the money went into her account and that his church had existed for about 20 years before he met her roughly two years earlier.
“Who has an evidence that the money she got for her surgery is N30m? It wasn’t my account they sent the money to, it was hers. And I didn’t use the money to build church as rumoured. What I know is that people gave her money including Mike Adenuga who offered her a cheque. I never had access to her money,” he added.
Further addressing claims of maltreatment during their relationship, Onadeko rejected stories of abuse. He described a mutual arrangement where they supported each other financially, shared proceeds from sold gold, and lived in her uncle’s house. He noted she had left the church about three weeks before her death and that church members were aware of her smoking habit, which he had encouraged her to quit.
The exact cause and location of Osoba’s death remain unconfirmed by official family statements or police reports. Her family, the Awonuga/Osoba family, had earlier issued a strong warning against circulating unverified claims. In a statement shared on her Instagram page, they described many circulating reports as “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorised” and urged the public to respect their privacy while mourning.
They stressed that any official information would come only through authorised family channels.
As tributes continue to pour in from colleagues and fans who celebrated her resilience through illness and her return to the screen, Onadeko’s account has added a new layer of questions to the circumstances surrounding the actress’s sudden passing. The burial proceeds this week in Ogun State as the industry and her loved ones prepare to say a final goodbye.
