Embrace Science Before Marriage — Yewande Adekoya Urges Couples

Nollywood actress Yewande Adekoya has shared a serious message she says came directly from God, urging people planning to get married to take their mental and psychological health seriously.

In a video posted on her Instagram page, the actress revealed that during her quiet time, she received a clear instruction to speak to intending couples about embracing science alongside prayers.

According to her, fasting and spiritual preparation are not enough. She stressed that couples must undergo personality tests, psychological evaluations, and mental health assessments before marriage.

She said:

“This message is for you if you’re about to get married. You have prayed, fasted, and done every test necessary to ensure that you have a good marriage. But there’s something inside of you telling you, ‘Are you sure you have done everything?’”

Yewande explained that God instructed her to emphasize mental health checks, noting that such tests help reveal critical issues that could affect a marriage.

“When I was having my quiet time, He told me that it is important to do a personality test, psychological evaluation, and mental health evaluation for whoever you think you want to get married to.”

She listed conditions that couples should be aware of before saying “I do,” including bipolar disorder, ADHD, depression, schizophrenia, psychosis, and narcissism.

“If you’re dating someone and insist that you guys go for the above, you’ll know what you’re dealing with. Is this person normal, meaning neurotypical? Does this person have bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ADHD, depression, psychosis, narcissism, and is this person mentally capable of making good decisions?”

According to the actress, knowing these things early helps couples understand the kind of marriage they are walking into.

“When you carry out this test, you get to know what kind of marriage you’ll have.”

Yewande also issued a strong warning, advising people to walk away if their partner refuses to take such tests.

“If you meet your partner and tell him to carry out such tests, and he says no, please run. The person knows what you don’t know.”

She concluded by stressing that faith and science must work together.

“God has told me to tell everyone that it is important we embrace science. If you are about to settle down, this message is for you.”

The actress ended the video on a lighter note, celebrating her upcoming birthday as a January 20 baby, thanking God for preservation.

Yewande Adekoya’s message has since sparked conversations online, with many agreeing that mental health awareness is crucial before marriage, while others debate how such evaluations should be handled in relationships.
