Actress and producer Olaniyan Tosin has come out strongly against the ongoing drama between veteran Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao and TikTok personality Momma Dessy, using her Instagram stories to slam the preference for social media celebrities over trained actors while defending Ajao from accusations of envy.
In a series of stories shared on Sunday, October 11, 2026, Tosin expressed frustration with what she sees as the industry’s declining standards. She wrote that young, talented upcoming actors are often castigated because they lack money, while those who know little about theatre are adored.
“A lot of young, beautiful talented upcoming actors are out there, they will castigate them because they don’t have money. These people will go to rehearsals like crazy, all you do for them is to send them on errands, but adore people that knows nothing about theatre,” she wrote.
Tosin recalled the stricter environment of Odunlade Adekola Film Productions (OAFP), where she began her career.
“I remembered OAFP then, you dare not speak when a senior talks. If stars are thousands of mile away you will have to go and great them, but now everybody will windup inside AC with arrogance when they know nothing. Everybody is now a producer,” she added.
She argued that the absence of strict rules has allowed unprofessional practices to thrive.
“Since there is no strict law in the industry again, crazy things keep happening. They will leave trained aspiring actors and go and meet social media made celeb. People who have the talent go to rehearsals up and down after you corner them with law. You will leave them and go and meet lawless, unprofessional people.”
Tosin also claimed that editing often masks poor performances on set, and that critics who speak up are dismissed as envious.
Her sharpest words were directed at the specific feud. Momma Dessy, a TikToker who rose to prominence through viral content and later collaborated with Eniola Ajao after falling out with another creator, has accused the actress of envy and attitude issues after their relationship soured. Dessy has claimed Ajao used their association and that she faced poor treatment while staying at Ajao’s house. A leaked voice note circulating online also captured Ajao expressing frustration that Dessy did not control her fans, who were reportedly dragging the actress over movie views.Tosin pushed back hard.
“I’m pained. For someone to be calling our aunty envious because you produced. Aunty who has been producing for years? Deduct 13 years from your age girl, but do I blame you? NO!!! IT’S OUR AUNTY I BLAME. Is ALANI POMOLEKU small? Is our aunty now small? It’s not easy o, celebrity of VCD outnumber social media ones. Thanks to cut and shoot, your incompetence would’ve been known,” she wrote.
Tosin, who has appeared in films such as Alani Pomolekun, Ehanna, and others and has produced her own projects, framed her reaction as concern for the craft rather than personal attack.
