Relationship influencer Blessing CEO has broken down in tears in a raw Instagram video, apologising to Nigerians days after the death of her nine-year-old son, Brian, while she was held at Kirikiri Prison.
In the clip posted on November 3, 2026, and filmed inside a parked car, the self-acclaimed relationship coach said she stepped outside so her mother would not see her cry. She described herself as broken, mentally exhausted, and surrounded by darkness, struggling to face the camera.
Brian, affectionately called Doom Doom or Dum Dum, died from an asthma attack while Blessing was in custody on a property fraud charge. She was unable to meet bail conditions at the time and was not present when he passed. She was later released on bail in late October 2026. In the video she addressed her son directly:
“You shattered my heart to bury my own child. I’m sorry I wasn’t there. I’m sorry I came late.”
She said she plans to collect his school bag, uniform, and books, and promised to “correct every wrong” in his memory. She and her mother have been hiding from each other to grieve privately. She broke down after seeing her mother weep that morning.
Blessing also used the moment to apologise for earlier public comments.
“I am so sorry for speaking about the pain I have never felt carelessly. I am realising that talk is cheap but action is loud,” she said in the caption.
She compared herself to the biblical prodigal son and said she was willing to turn back from a wrong path and start afresh after learning hard lessons.
About an hour after her video spread, her boyfriend IVD (Ikechukwu Ogbonna) posted his own note on Instagram. Addressing family, friends, and business partners, he wrote of five years of struggle:
“It’s been 5 Years Of Endless Battle Also Trying to Retract All My Mistakes, I pray for Gods mercy and Forgiveness, in anyway I have Hurt Anyone I pray for Forgiveness, am only Human, Am not a perfect person, I have prayed for Gods Forgiveness and for Him to Show Me Mercy. Like the Lord Said There is a time for everything: time to reflect, time to focus.”
He described himself as a man who had received God’s mercy.
The posts follow months of public turmoil. Blessing was remanded at Kirikiri in June 2026 over alleged fraud cases involving millions of naira, including property and related matters. She pleaded not guilty in reported court appearances. Her son’s death was first publicly confirmed while she remained in custody; she later said he had previously dreamt of dying and told his older brother Darrell, her sister Precious, and her father, but never told her. She has said the boy suffered chronic asthma and that she herself is asthmatic.
