Nollywood actress and Abia State governorship aspirant Doris Ogala is reportedly experiencing prolonged bleeding from an old surgical wound while held at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, raising fresh concerns about her condition as she awaits a court decision on bail.

A medical report from the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, dated 5 June 2026 and signed by Dr Ifediora Arinze, has circulated online alongside claims about her current state. The document identifies her as Umezurike Doris Uzunma Ogala, then 30, and records a diagnosis of severe anaemia secondary to a submucous myoma, or fibroid. She had been referred with prolonged personal bleeding, weakness, fever and restlessness after a myomectomy performed on 2 April 2025 at a private clinic. She was admitted, treated, and discharged after improvement, with advice to avoid strenuous activity for six months and attend fortnightly follow-ups. At the time of the report she was managed as an outpatient.

Supporters sharing the document have framed her situation in custody as urgent. One accompanying post stated:

“Doris Ogala is reportedly bleeding from an old surgical wound while in detention. She should be receiving urgent medical attention, not going through further suffering. This is totally wrong and unjust. Our judicial system should never be used as a weapon of revenge.”

Ogala was remanded by Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Lagos on 28 October 2026 after she pleaded not guilty to charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving Pastor Chris Okafor. The prosecution, acting through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, alleged that between September 2024 and March 2026 she published intimate photographs of the cleric without consent, disseminated electronic messages said to be false, and threatened further damaging material. She was returned to Kirikiri after a 30 October appearance in which she knelt and apologised for earlier disruptive conduct in court. Ruling on her bail application was reserved until 6 November.

The dispute has deep roots. Ogala has publicly claimed a relationship with Okafor dating back to 2017 and accused him of failing to marry her after she said he wrecked aspects of her life. His lawyer has described the charges as arising from police investigation and said invitations to her were not fully met. Ogala has described her remand as politically motivated.

This is not her first public health episode this year. In early June she collapsed and was rushed to the same Umuahia facility. At the hospital she was seen interacting with patients and reportedly covering some bills.

Online reaction to the latest claims has mixed sympathy with political commentary. Some supporters argue the process is being used to silence her ambitions ahead of 2027. Others have focused on the reported condition itself and the need for care while she remains in custody. No official update from the correctional centre or court on her current medical status has been issued as of publication.
