Rising Afrobeats star Mavo and popular streamer Davrel have dragged their friendship into a messy public fight after Mavo posted a blunt denial that set X on fire.
Mavo, whose real name is Oseremen Marvin Ukanigbe, wrote:
“I don’t know that nigga.”
The spark was a clip from Davrel’s livestream in which the streamer said he expected Mavo to show up and support him, only to be told the singer was always busy. Davrel framed it as disappointment from someone he considered a friend. Mavo’s reply treated him like a stranger.
Davrel did not let it slide. Quoting Mavo’s later jab, “you saw a superstar, you’d definitely record. It was your one chance o,” the streamer hit back:
“Mavo, for real?? You begged me to come to the club as my friend. It was my bottle you held while flexing. You didn’t pick up a single bill, but see what you’re talking about years later. EVERYTHING’S GOOD, DON’T WORRY.”
He also posted a club video of the two of them together and later wrote that Mavo had begged him to promote a show in December 2024.
“But you were begging me to promote your show in December 2024.”
When Mavo appeared to delete multiple tweets, Davrel added:
“Tweet and delete. You’ve realized that you were saying nonsense.”
Mavo kept swinging in short posts. He wrote, “free the hate in your hearts so you can finally win on your own,” then followed with “You didn’t meet us because of money.” Davrel quoted the first line and shot back:
“Listen to your own advice dawg.”
Davrel also posted screenshots of private chats and a video of Mavo talking about using a restaurant for content, arguing that the singer could not now pretend they were strangers. The chats included gossip about Shallipopi’s money problems.
The fight quickly picked up fan-war colour. Davrel is known for Davido-facing streams and 30BG circles, while Mavo has scored major records with both Davido and Wizkid, including “Shakabulizzy (Remix)” and “Money Constant.” Some users argued Mavo is keeping distance because Davrel often talks down Wizkid on stream.
Mavo, 22, broke out in 2025 with viral slang-heavy hits and Billboard’s African Rookie of the Month nod while still studying optometry. Davrel has built a loud streaming brand around nightlife, celebrity access, and constant controversy. The exchange turned that mix into a public loyalty test.
