Nollywood actress Queeneth Agbor has been honoured by the Nigerian Correctional Service for her work with inmates, a recognition she says belongs to everyone who still believes people behind bars deserve another chance.
The Award of Appreciation was presented by the Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone A Headquarters, Lagos, in acknowledgement of her sustained support for inmate welfare, rehabilitation and reintegration. Agbor received the honour through her Queeneth Agbor (Strength Beyond Walls) Foundation.
The actress described the moment as both personal and collective.
“I am deeply grateful to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Zone A Headquarters, for this recognition. It means a lot to me because the work we do through Strength Beyond Walls Foundation is driven by the belief that every individual deserves hope, dignity and an opportunity to rebuild,” she said.
She made it clear the award is not a solo achievement.
“This award is not just about me; it is about everyone who believes in giving people a second chance. We will continue to support efforts that help inmates discover their potential, acquire useful skills and prepare for meaningful lives after incarceration.”
Agbor has used the foundation to champion a more humane approach inside correctional facilities, focusing on skills, welfare and the idea that incarceration should not mean being forgotten.
“Our goal is to ensure that nobody feels forgotten simply because they are behind the walls of a correctional facility. There is always room for transformation, and we are committed to being part of that journey,” she added.
The honour comes after years of visible outreach. In 2025 she marked her birthday at Ikoyi Medium Security Custodial Centre by feeding 1,000 inmates under the same “Strength Beyond Walls” theme, turning a personal celebration into a public reminder that hope can exist even behind locked doors.
The recognition arrives as calls grow for stronger partnership between government institutions, NGOs and private supporters in inmate rehabilitation. Agbor thanked those already backing the foundation and stressed that lasting change will take collective effort.
