Nollywood actress Toyosi Adesanya has openly called out some of her colleagues for allegedly “beefing” late Temitope Osoba and trying to sabotage efforts to support her even after her death.
The emotional outburst came during the candlelight night of tribute held for the late Yoruba actress on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at LTV 8 (Blueroof) in Ikeja, Lagos. The event, tagged “An Evening of Love, Music & Memories,” was organised in white attire and attended by only a handful of industry figures including Toyosi Adesanya, Foluke Daramola, Alesh Sanni and Jigan Babaoja. Most top Yoruba Nollywood stars stayed away.
Speaking at the tribute, Toyosi did not hold back.
“They said she doesn’t belong to their association,” she said, accusing some actors of excluding Temitope Osoba and working against contributions raised for her.
She alleged that certain colleagues actively moved to undermine fundraising efforts for the late actress. Toyosi also revealed that Osoba had reached out to her in her final days, asking her to keep calling for acting jobs.
Tope Osoba died on or around August 4/5, 2026, at the age of 40. She had publicly battled breast cancer, undergoing surgery in 2024 and announcing her recovery and return to acting in 2025. However, both her family and close colleague Foluke Daramola have firmly rejected claims that cancer caused her death.
At the same candlelight event, Foluke Daramola addressed the speculation directly.
“Late Temitope Osoba didn’t die of cancer, I know this for a fact because I was with Tope throughout that period she was doing well and was perfectly fine. What caused her death was something entirely different and investigation is going on,” she stated.
Foluke also used the occasion to send a broader message to people struggling in silence.
“Please, if you have issues, speak out, so we can help each other. We don’t speak out, maybe because of shaming… We can be there for one another.”
The exact circumstances of Osoba’s death remain unclear and under discussion. Her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, claimed she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos, while denying other circulating stories.

Burial has been fixed for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Saint James Anglican Church, Iperu Remo, Ogun State, with interment to follow immediately. Mourners are requested to wear white.
The sparse attendance at the candlelight tribute and Toyosi Adesanya’s public call-out have reignited conversations about solidarity and genuine support within the Yoruba arm of Nollywood. Many online have described the situation as painful.
