Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, has been laid to rest in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, more than a month after her death was announced and after her first burial date was postponed.
Family members said her body left Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu at 9am on Thursday, September 10, 2026. The service followed at 10am at Akesan Club, opposite Iperu Morning Market. Mourners in white then moved to Iperu Remo Cemetery for the interment. Videos from the morning showed her remains leaving the mortuary as friends and colleagues wept.
Actors Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia were among those who attended. Daramola spoke at the service about the life Osoba lived, describing her as highly talented, jovial and simple.
Osoba’s death was made public on August 5, 2026. Reports put her passing at August 4. She was 40. The family first fixed burial for August 13 after a candlelight procession and artiste tribute night on August 11, then postponed it, saying more arrangements and unresolved matters had to be settled. Actor Kunle Afod later said the autopsy had been completed before the new date was announced.

What killed her is still disputed in public. Colleague Alesh Sanni affirmed that she did not die of cancer and asked the public to let her people grieve. At the candlelight service, Foluke Daramola said the breast lump had already been removed and that “what caused her death was something different,” with an investigation ongoing. Those remarks have not been replaced by a published official medical report.
Osoba started as a dancer before moving into acting in the early 2000s. Her films include Gucci Girls (2012), Accident (2013) and Ifedolapo (2015). Thursday’s white-clad service closed a bitter stretch of grief, delay and unanswered questions.
