Content creator Carter Efe stripped down to his underwear and tried to rush rapper Speed Darlington during a heated Lagos press conference ahead of their October 1 celebrity boxing fight, forcing security to pull them apart.
The face-off played out Thursday, September 10, 2026, at a livestreamed Chaos in the Ring event tied to their bout at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island. The fight will stream live on DAZN. What was meant to sell tickets turned into a near brawl in front of a live audience and online viewers.
Speed Darlington came in swinging with words.
“I will use beating to beat you,” he told Carter.
Carter shot back as Speed stylishly retreated.
“Why are you running behind the bouncer? Let the bouncer leave the two of us. I want to show you that I am a 24-year-old boy.”
On Channels Television he went further.
“He’s an old man for me. It’s like fighting my father’s age mate. I’m even scared that I might end up taking someone’s daddy away from them. I’m happy he has not given birth because if he had, I’ll not fight him, but since he hasn’t given birth, I’ll beat him to death. That is my plan.”
Asked if he had trained since beating Portable, Carter did not give a gym diary.
“If I punch you, you’ll feel and know that I’ve been training.”
The video that broke the internet shows Carter pulling off his shorts on stage and moving to throw hands while Speed backed off. Security stepped in before fists landed. Fans online asked what was wrong with Carter. Others said the chaos was exactly the kind of promotion the card needed.
Carter also told Hip TV he wants more than a win.
“I want to beat Speed to embarrassment.”
He claimed Speed could never expose him.
“Speed Darlington can never expose me. I’m the one with people’s secrets.”
Then he named Burna Boy as fuel for the fight.
“The major reason I want to beat Speed Darlington is because he called Burna Boy gay. How can he be saying it to a big artiste like that? If I don’t stop him, he’ll say it to Davido too.”
The same press run doubled as a Peller call out. Carter’s TikTok page, which had about 5.6 million followers, was permanently banned this week for policy violations. On Channels TV he blamed fellow streamer Peller.
“It was Peller that hacked it. I have already told him that I do not takedown people’s account but I will take someone around him.”
Peller has said he will not deny old clips of fans being urged to report Carter and argued Carter’s livestream behaviour put the account at risk.
Carter walks in as the man who beat Habeeb “Portable” Badmus by unanimous decision in May at Chaos in the Ring 4, with all three judges scoring 30-27. Businessman Emeka “E-Money” Okonkwo paid him a ₦50 million pledge after that upset. Speed last met Portable in 2025 and lost by technical knockout when he could not continue into the second round. After Carter beat Portable, Speed mocked the result and said he could take Carter himself. October 1 is that answer.
Promoters Balmoral Promotions billed it as two African stars, one ring, no excuses. After Thursday’s underwear sprint, the “beat him to death” vow and security scramble, the excuses are already gone. The ring is set for Independence Day.
