Nigerian music fans have been hit with fresh drama as street-pop star Seyi Vibez unleashed a fiery response to what many interpret as a subtle diss from Adekunle Gold.

The tension stems from Adekunle Gold’s deluxe edition of his album Fuji, titled Fuji Xtra, released the same day. In the opening track “Life Of The Faaji,” Gold delivers the lines:

“They love my fuji this no be Fuji moto.”

Seyi Vibez released his own album Fuji Moto in November 2025, a 14-track project that proudly embraces Fuji influences blended with Afrobeats. Many fans quickly connected the dots and saw the lyric as a direct shot at Seyi’s project and his claim to the Fuji sound of this generation.

Seyi wasted no time replying. In a now-viral post on X, he wrote:

“Adekunle Gold you’re wack

And your swag is wack

Old fool!”

The blunt message has sparked heated debates across social media, with fans dividing into camps defending their favorite artists.

This exchange highlights the competitive spirit in Nigeria’s entertainment scene. Seyi Vibez positioned himself as a leading voice carrying the torch for modern Fuji, often declaring in interviews his deep connection to the genre. Adekunle Gold, on the other hand, has leaned heavily into Fuji rhythms in recent work, describing his project as a personal exploration rooted in Yoruba sounds.

Industry watchers note that such lyrical jabs and social media responses are common in Afrobeats, often generating buzz that benefits both parties through increased streams and conversations.

Fans have flooded timelines with memes, support posts, and calls for peace between the two talents. Some defend Seyi’s right to clap back, while others argue the response was too harsh toward a senior colleague in the industry.
