Nigerian comedian and former Big Brother Naija housemate Aderombi Martin (popularly known as DeeOne) has thrown his full weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, admitting the next phase will be tough yet insisting it remains the only true path for Nigeria’s progress. In an appearance on Vanguard’s podcast The Nigerian Meter, DeeOne challenged opposition voices to present concrete plans instead of empty criticism ahead of 2027.

DeeOne declared:

“Tinubu’s regime won’t be easy for anybody, but it is the way forward and it is the truth.”

He stressed that the current government is delivering results and urged Nigerians to demand real alternatives from anyone seeking power.

“For me, this government is doing well, and if any other government wants to take over, let them tell us what they want to do.”

The comedian directly tackled recent remarks by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who described Tinubu’s government as the worst he had seen. DeeOne fired back with pointed questions about what the alternatives would be.

“Do you want to bring back subsidy? This is not about me, but about our children. Do you know that the monthly allocation the government receives has increased tremendously?”

He also shifted some blame away from the presidency, reminding listeners that many issues fall under state and local responsibilities.

“There are many things we blame the president for that governors and local government chairmen are supposed to handle.”

DeeOne concluded that without a better roadmap, continuity is the safest bet.

“For me, if nobody can give us a tangible way forward, then this government should continue.”

The entertainer expressed pride in Nigeria’s growing global respect, citing Tinubu’s recent United Kingdom visit.

“Look at the way the president was received in the UK; I was proud to be a Nigerian because I’ve never experienced that physically. I saw the way Nigeria was celebrated. It was not about the president alone; it was about honouring us as Nigerians, and it can only get better.”

DeeOne listed specific areas he wants sustained: road completion, continuation of student loans, and the implementation of state police. He also called for transparency among public figures and activists.

“I want them to be honest. If they are paid, let Nigerians know they are paid… Abroad, celebrities openly receive money from politicians to campaign for them, and everybody knows. Why do Nigerians hide it?”
