Nollywood veteran Muyiwa Ademola has revealed a terrifying health scare that nearly ended his involvement in Odunlade Adekola’s epic film Warlord: Olori Ogun. The actor shared the full details on Instagram, describing how he collapsed on location before shooting a single scene and then pushed through the entire production against clear medical advice.

Odunlade first approached Muyiwa about the project in December 2024, with filming scheduled to start in February 2025. Muyiwa had to travel to Canada in January and promised to return in time. His delayed arrival raised some doubts about his commitment, but Odunlade held the role open for him. When Muyiwa finally arrived on set, the situation took a dramatic turn.

In his own words, Muyiwa painted a vivid picture of the moment everything went wrong.

“I started feeling dizzy, weak, my hands were shakky … sweats all over me in an open space, my legs couldn’t carry me again. I leaned on a wall (the posted pic) my PA gave me a chair, I felt like I should be naked, it was like even my skin was preventing air from reaching me. Then I was fading off, I was about to collapse when Odun noticed and quickly came, he held onto me quickly told someone to come with a mat. I laid flat, helplessly, I couldn’t talk, couldn’t coordinate a thing. I was hearing people’s voices from afar. They’ve been panicking. I beckoned to Oloyo; my PA he sat beside me, wanted to tell him to call my wife but I was too weak to… I faded off! Knock Off Duration: Unknown! Maybe hours!”

After he regained consciousness, the crew wanted to take him to the hospital, but Muyiwa refused. His doctors later confirmed he was not fit for work, yet he chose to ignore their warnings.

“My doctors said I wasn’t fit for the job but I turned deaf ear,” he wrote, explaining that he self-medicated throughout the shoot until the project wrapped.

He framed the decision as a personal sacrifice driven by loyalty to the trust Odunlade had placed in him.

Odunlade Adekola responded in the comments with genuine surprise and gratitude.

“😭😭👏👏👏 Thank you my wonderful brother @authenticmuy, fantastic actor, and a wonderful script interpreter. I was shocked and surprised to read this. Hmmmmmmm, once again thank you so much sir,” he wrote.

Warlord: Olori Ogun brought together a strong ensemble that included Femi Adebayo, Toyin Abraham, Faithia Balogun, Ibrahim Chatta, Ireti Osayemi and Eniola Ajao. Muyiwa played the powerful and power-drunk King Adeyiga. The film premiered in Nigerian cinemas in November 2025 and later became available for streaming on Kava TV.

Fans and colleagues have reacted with a mixture of concern for his health and admiration for the quiet sacrifice he made to keep his word to Odunlade.
