Nigerian content creator and streamer Muhammed Gilmore has sparked conversations with a bold declaration that he would turn down advice even from Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote. Speaking on the WithChude Podcast hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Gilmore argued that guidance must come from a matching perspective or it risks missing the mark entirely.
Gilmore made his position clear without hesitation.
“If Dangote gives me advice, I’ll reject it because he’s giving me advice from his own point of view,” he said.
He went on to explain that what succeeds for one person often fails for another because people stand in different places when they look at life.
“It may work for Dangote, but it may not work for me. I’m the king of POV in Africa. I brought POV to Nigeria,” he added, claiming pioneering status for the popular “point of view” approach in the country’s content space.
He broke down the idea further by stressing that differing viewpoints do not automatically make someone wrong.
“POV is your own point of view, meaning the place you are looking at it from so it doesn’t mean another person is looking at it wrongly,” Gilmore noted.
In his view, the most useful counsel comes from someone walking a similar path.
“Dangote can advise me and it won’t work for me, it is someone that is in same situation as me that can advise me, that’s why I don’t listen to advice and at the end of the day it’s you that will advice yourself,” he concluded.
The comments form part of a wider, unfiltered conversation on the podcast where Gilmore reflected on his journey as a University of Lagos Chemistry graduate turned popular skit maker and streamer. He has built a following through relatable boarding-school content and high-stakes streaming experiments, including stories of heavy financial risks and the grind required to succeed as a young creator in Nigeria.
The clip has circulated widely since the episode aired, drawing mixed but lively reactions. Some listeners praise the honesty and self-awareness, while others debate whether dismissing counsel from a proven billionaire is wise or simply stubborn.
