Days after the death of Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, a fraudulent fundraising campaign has emerged online, and those closest to him are fighting back.
A flyer created by a page identified as Tolaoluwa Foundation began circulating on social media shortly after his passing, appealing for donations to support the singer’s wife and children.
“As we honour the life and memory of our dear friend, we are raising funds to support the wife and children he leaves behind. Your kindness will help provide care, comfort and practical support during this difficult time,” the flyer read.
The family has since dismissed the campaign as unauthorised. Fellow gospel singer and close friend Lanre Alewilese issued a public disclaimer, urging the public to report the page immediately.
“This is not true please. Please let’s report this page massively. If at all something like this will come up it will be from @toluwanisings page. Thank you,” he wrote on Instagram.
Toluwanisings’ death was confirmed by his family on October 14, 2026. His personal assistant, Babadunni Gbolabo, has since shed light on his final moments, revealing that the singer was “fine and in perfect condition” before he suddenly slumped. According to Gbolabo, attempts to resuscitate him were made, and he was taken to eight different hospitals in Ibadan, Oyo State, all of which refused to admit him for various reasons.
The public is advised to ignore any fundraising appeal not announced directly through the singer’s official Instagram page.
