Social media commentator Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has called Apostle Arome Osayi a liar after the cleric said he spent four years and six months in Boko Haram territory and held open-air crusades there.

Arome had said his team went into the area every year. He also recounted a night trip his members took against his instructions, saying Boko Haram arrested them, took their phones, injured one of the men, and later released them. Otse treated that account as a claim that needed proof.

“You are going further to show that you are not a true man of God, and you are just a liar. If you have done crusade there with the power you claim you have, till tomorrow Boko Haram will still be attacking people, killing people. So why did you not stop them?” he said.

He said he had never seen a flyer for any such meeting in territory the insurgents actually controlled. A crusade in a safer part of Borno, he argued, is not the same thing as entering a red zone.

“We have never, never seen a flyer of your crusade in Boko Haram territory.”

Otse then dared the cleric to make the next one public.

“Your next crusade in the red zone, please make it known. Let’s all share the flyers. I would like to be present online. Let’s just stream live.”

He also asked why the military would still be needed if the spiritual power Arome claims had already been at work there for years.

The clash sits on a feud that started in late September, when Otse attacked a sermon in which Arome described revival as Nigeria’s national calling, then mocked the cleric’s listing as a United States representative on a Cameroon crusade flyer.
