Nollywood critic and actor Tolu Fabgbure has drawn a firm line with veteran colleague Muyiwa Ademola, declaring he will no longer exchange greetings with the star after what he described as a cold encounter.
Fabgbure shared the story during an interview on Agbaletu with host Dele Adeyanju. The awkward moment happened at the meet-and-greet for Faithia Balogun’s movie Efunroye (The Unicorn). Faithia invited Fabgbure over when he came across Ademola at the event. He tried to greet the actor, but the response felt distant and unwelcoming.
“I greeted him once or twice, and that was it,” Fabgbure recalled.
The two were not close friends, yet they had spoken before without any similar tension. The sudden shift left him surprised and unsettled. They remained in the same space for more than five hours, during which Fabgbure sensed a deliberate effort to keep distance.
That experience stayed with him.
“From that day, I made up my mind that whenever I saw him again, I wouldn’t greet him again,” he stated.
The decision was final. What made it sting more was the history of previous conversations that had never turned chilly.
Fabgbure, known for his candid takes on the industry and work as a theatre practitioner and critic, framed the story as a simple matter of mutual respect. He did not claim any deeper feud or personal attack. Instead, he presented it as a practical choice after feeling dismissed in a professional setting. No public response from Muyiwa Ademola has surfaced in connection with the remarks.
The revelation adds another layer to Nollywood’s ongoing conversations about industry relationships, and perceived hierarchy among actors. Fabgbure has previously shared frank opinions on colleagues’ craft and professionalism, often sparking debate. This latest account centers on a personal boundary rather than artistic critique.
Muyiwa Ademola, also known as Muyiwa Authentic, remains a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema with a long career as an actor, producer, and director. Fabgbure continues his dual path as performer and outspoken commentator.
