Peter Okoye has explained, in his own words, why he moved his birthday off the date he shares with his twin and why he stopped waiting for the P-Square family fight to settle in private.

The comments came in a Capital XTRA interview with Afro B. Mr P said he had hoped the people involved would one day admit they had wronged him. That moment, he said, never came.

“Maybe I was hoping there was going to be, let’s just say, a wind of change. You know, these individuals are going to one day say, ‘Okay, Peter, I think we’ve wronged you.’ But it’s getting deeper, deeper, deeper, deeper.”

He added:

“These guys have been speaking. Now it’s time to speak my own truth.”

He was clear about who he says the speech is for.

“I don’t want the public opinion. But just that I feel like the fans of P-Square need justice of what happened to their P-Square.”

He compared the demand to a robbery that cannot be undone. Justice, in his telling, is not the same as bringing the old group back to life.

The birthday change is the part that made the clip travel. The twins were born on November 18, 1981. In April 2026, Peter told fans he would no longer take wishes or gifts on that date and would mark November 30 instead. On Capital XTRA he said why the old date soured.

“November 18th, for the past 13 years, hasn’t been a birthday that everyone can wish for themselves. November 18th is always going to be like a moment where everybody’s looking out to see who what’s it going to post, what they’re going to say.”

He said his brother is also his neighbour. Visitors go to Paul’s side first, he said, “they do a lot of gossip,” then arrive at his gate carrying the talk. Later in the same answer he put the wound in harder language:

“November 18th has not been a birthday. It has been bad days for me for the last 16 17 years.”

His fix is separation, not a rewritten birth certificate.

“If you ask me, I just say like let me just have my separate birthday.”

He said he would like to change the date on his passport but knows the paperwork would take time. For now the plan is a party.

“Next birthday we’re doing a big birthday bash… November 30th for sure we’re going to enjoy.”

He also used the interview to pull his wife, Lola Omotayo, out of the blast radius. Fans have long blamed her for the group’s collapse. He rejected that.

“A lot of people have thrown stones at her like she’s a reason for our problem. Meanwhile, she’s just an innocent woman.”

He tied his single I Love You Because to that defence.
