Businesswoman and reality star Adeola Adeyemi, popularly known as Diiadem, has opened up about why she is currently celibate and single, saying she will no longer give her body to a man who is only after sex.
Speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, the Real Housewives of Lagos star said she wants a partner who is deliberate about her life, not a man who approaches her for physical pleasure alone.
“I am celibate right now because I want to be with somebody that is so intentional about me. You’re not just coming at me because you want to sleep with me,” she said.
Diiadem said she has worked hard to build her life and will not let anyone shrink her.
“I’ve tried as much as I can to build myself to this point. You’re not gonna come to my life and then make me feel less of myself.”
She also set a clear standard for any future relationship. Support must go both ways.
“If you’re not building me, you’re not pouring into me. Of course, I’ll pour into you as well, but you should be able to pour into me.”
Friendship comes first, she added. Anyone who cannot talk, connect and grow with her before intimacy does not qualify.
“If we cannot have a conversation with me first, and let’s just even build a relationship. Let’s build friendships. If you cannot stand that phase, then you’re not even deserving of me in the first place.”
The entrepreneur said she would rather stay single than force a union that adds nothing to her life.
“I’d rather carry my singleness with pride.”
The comments line up with what she has said earlier this year. In April, during a house tour with content creator Jarvis, she described herself as “very single” and said many men are intimidated by successful women. She added that anyone who wants her now “has to be ten times better” and that she would rather stay single than settle for the bare minimum.
Diiadem, whose real name is Adeola Adeyemi, is a beauty entrepreneur and mother. Her latest interview has already split reactions online, with some backing her demand for intention and others arguing that desire will still show up even with the right man.
