Nollywood actress Olaide Oyedeji has issued a strong warning to women considering plastic surgery solely in hopes of transforming their lives or attracting better opportunities. Speaking from personal experience, the actress urged people to rethink the mindset that going under the knife is a guaranteed path to success.

In a recent video shared widely on social media, Oyedeji, who has openly discussed undergoing procedures including a Brazilian Butt Lift, breast lift and liposuction, stressed that physical enhancements should not be treated as the sole solution for a better life.

“Do not fix your body just because you think it’s going to make your life better. It’s good to look good, I’m not going to lie to you. But you can’t base your thinking on ‘let me go under the knife because I want to make it.’ That’s the wrong mindset to have because you’ll just keep doing it and it’ll get to a point where it’ll start having negative effects on you.”

The actress, known for roles in films such as Omo Ghetto: The Saga and her own productions, explained that society has long promoted the idea that a good figure is all that is needed. She noted, however, that beauty plays only a limited role in real achievement.

“A good figure plays only a little role in success. For some people, it’s the only thing they need. God blessed some people with a beautiful face and body and it works for them. If they have talent, it’ll help them a lot,” she said.

Oyedeji cautioned against chasing surgery purely for attention.

“If you want to do your body to get attention, you’ll get only cheap attention. If you depend on just a good body, you’re going to get a man that’s interested in just your body. You have to complement your body with a good brain to make the best of it.”

She shared that she has been single for four years and continues to receive interest from men, yet many fall short of her standards. Drawing from her own past, she admitted she was once heavily focused on appearance.

“Check me back in the day on social media, I’ve been a menace. But if that’s the only thing you want to base your life on, it’ll be a mess. You’re not the first and you won’t be the last. Trend well, but what will you do when a figure 8 is no longer in vogue.”

The actress advised that looking good is part of the entertainment business but far from the whole story.

“I used to think looking good was the only business, but I’ve since realized it’s only a part of the business. You need to have more than a fine face and body.”

Oyedeji’s comments come from someone who has lived the experience of body transformation and its limitations. She encouraged women to learn from others rather than turn themselves into cautionary tales, emphasising that lasting success requires more than physical beauty.
