Former Big Brother Naija star Sheggz Olusemo has finally spoken out on his split from Bella Okagbue, firmly denying claims of cheating or abuse while revealing that issues of trust and respect led him to end their nearly four-year relationship.
In a lengthy statement shared on X, the reality TV star explained that he had remained silent out of respect for his family and personal nature, but felt compelled to clarify his side after years of building his reputation.
“I am a man who values family, friendship, integrity and my faith. I am a brother, a friend to many and most importantly, I know the values I stand for. I am not an abuser. For clarity, I did not cheat on Bella and I have been single since January 2026,” Sheggz wrote.
Sheggz detailed a difficult period in 2025 when he spent significant time in and out of hospital. After recovering in England, he returned to Nigeria in October 2025 and became aware of information that made him question the honesty in their relationship. He said he had given multiple opportunities since 2024 for the truth to be shared, but it never came.
“It was difficult for me to process, particularly because I had loved Bella deeply and genuinely hoped we would spend our lives together. I also struggled with how the situation was handled and at times, I felt there was not the level of remorse or understanding I had hoped for.”
The relationship officially ended in January 2026. Attempts at reconciliation followed, but Sheggz concluded that the trust and respect issues were too significant for marriage.
“I genuinely wanted the relationship to work. I even went as far as purchasing a ring because I believed in the possibility of a future together. Unfortunately, sometimes two people can care deeply for one another and still come to the realisation that the relationship is no longer right for them.”
He expressed respect for Bella’s family’s feelings and insisted he tried sincerely to make things work. Sheggz ended by stating he has no desire for public drama and wishes Bella the best, hoping both sides can move on with grace.
The statement has triggered mixed reactions online, with some supporting his decision to speak while many others accused him of shifting blame. The once-popular BBNaija couple, who met during the Level Up season, had faced previous breakup speculation earlier in 2026 after unfollowing each other on Instagram.
