Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde took a firm stand against traffic lawlessness in Lagos after confronting a driver she accused of driving against traffic near Oriental Hotel.

In a video she shared online on Monday, August 17, 2026, the actress explained that the motorist had left his proper lane and entered the one reserved for vehicles heading towards Lekki in a bid to avoid congestion. She said the car reportedly had a police officer on board, yet she still refused to move.

“I will not leave my lane for you when you are passing one way. I won’t do it. I don’t care if you have police in your car,” Osunde stated clearly while blocking the vehicle.

She expressed deep frustration with the everyday disregard for road rules.

“I’m sick of Nigerians just doing anyhow, as if Lagos is not congested enough, without you passing one way and breaking traffic lights.”

Osunde made it plain that she was prepared to stay stuck in traffic or cancel her schedule rather than enable the violation. The only exceptions she recognised were genuine emergency vehicles.

“Unless you’re an ambulance or a fire truck and emergency service, I will not leave my lane for you when you’re passing one way. I won’t.”

She called on LASTMA officials at the scene to stop the driver and hold him accountable, arguing that allowing such behaviour only worsens the city’s traffic problems and wider culture of lawlessness.

The video quickly spread across social media, drawing praise from many who saw her action as a rare display of civic responsibility on Lagos roads. Others debated the practicality of confronting motorists in heavy traffic.

The incident has reignited conversations about road discipline, enforcement and the everyday choices that either improve or further damage life in Nigeria’s busiest city.
