Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has issued a heartfelt prayer amid the rising cases of insecurity, killings, and kidnappings across Nigeria, urging citizens not to become desensitised to the constant tragedies while election campaigns continue uninterrupted.
The actor took to his Instagram page to express deep concern as he reflected on the plight of victims, particularly children and families displaced by violence.
“As I settle in for the night, I can’t help but think. As you go to bed tonight, remember children are sleeping in the forests… imagine the cold, the bugs, the fear, the discomfort. Remember, a mother is holding her baby helplessly. Parents praying for safety. Schools living in fear.”
He highlighted the disturbing contrast between the suffering on the ground and the political activities.
“And somehow, in the middle of all this, election campaigns and preparations continue. Bloggers are posting about the election like everything is normal.”
Kunle ended with a powerful prayer:
“May we never become so used to tragedy that we stop feeling it.”
His message comes at a time when several celebrities, including Lala Akindoju, Ruth Kadiri, Yvonne Jegede, and Opeyemi Aiyeola, have also voiced strong concerns over the spate of violence, particularly following the abduction of schoolchildren and the brutal killing of a teacher in Oyo State.
