Nollywood actress and Secretary of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Lagos State Chapter, Imade Osawuru is set to give her late father a grand and befitting burial worthy of his status as a revered high chief.

The deceased, Chief Dr Solomon Osawaru Amayo, passed away at the remarkable age of 106. He held the prestigious traditional title of Obazogbon of the Benin Kingdom and was fondly known as “Adigbe” among his peers and subjects.

Imade Osawuru is rolling out the drums to celebrate a life well-lived. According to an official invitation issued by the Amayo family of Ugha-Okhuaihe in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State, the funeral arrangements have been finalised to honour the patriarch, described by many as a “colossus.”

The burial ceremony is expected to attract a large number of stars from the Nigerian movie industry, captains of industry, and high-ranking traditional chiefs from the Benin Kingdom. It will come to a climax in a grand social reception on Saturday, 30th May 2026, in Edo State.

Colleagues from the Actors Guild of Nigeria have begun mobilising support for their Lagos Chapter Secretary, promising a heavy Nollywood presence in Benin City. A close associate of the actress stated:

“An era has indeed come to an end with the passing of Chief Dr Solomon Osawaru Amayo. Living to the ripe old age of 106 is a rare blessing, and he used those years to impact his community and uphold the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom. We stand firmly with our sister and Secretary, Imade Osawuru, as she celebrates her father’s iconic legacy.”

Chief Amayo is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The family says he will be laid to rest with a burial befitting a royal patriarch.
