Fast-rising Nollywood actor Clinton Joshua Ezenele has stirred conversation in the film industry after revealing why he refuses to engage in kissing scenes on screen. Speaking during a recent interview on TVC’s E Splash, the actor made it clear that his decision is not accidental but a calculated move to protect his career from being boxed into a single type of role.
Clinton did not mince words as he explained his stance, emphasizing that Nollywood actors often get typecast based on what they are known for.
“I don’t kiss in movies because this is Nollywood… producers will likely give me the same role over and over again.”
According to him, once an actor becomes associated with a specific on-screen behavior, it becomes difficult to break out of that mold and secure diverse roles.
The actor stressed that his long-term goal is versatility, not being restricted to romantic or intimate roles.
“I don’t want to kiss half the girls in Nollywood.”
Clinton, known for his roles in films like For Her Sake (2026), We Are All Yours (2024), and Flavours of the Heart (2025), said maintaining boundaries helps him preserve his range as a performer. His stance reflects a strategic approach in an industry where actors are often repeatedly cast based on previous performances.
Clinton Joshua’s position underscores a growing divide among actors, some see intimate scenes as part of the craft, while others set clear personal and professional limits. For Clinton, the decision is less about morality and more about career longevity and control over his narrative as an actor.
