Nollywood and music stars have reacted with shock and anger to the Palm Sunday massacre in Jos, Plateau State, where suspected gunmen killed more than 40 people in the Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, Jos North. The attack, which occurred late on March 29, 2026, has drawn widespread condemnation from entertainers who say the recurring violence in the region has become unbearable.

Popular singer Spyro was among the first to speak out after seeing graphic videos of the aftermath. In an Instagram post, he described how the news ruined his day.

“This Country will BREAK you no matter who you are. Woke up excited to shoot a clip for my next single. I brush teeth, took my phone and entered Ig & boom it was a video of a woman with a loved one on her laps with blood everywhere. Chills ran through my body instantly, i lost all interest in functioning for the day.”

Spyro went further, blaming systemic failure and those in positions of influence.

“Everyday is just a reminder of how the system has failed us and yet some FOOLS with influence think it wise to ENABLE more of this.”

Comedian, Nollywood actor, and activist Macaroni directed his frustration at the federal government and President Bola Tinubu. In a strongly worded tweet, he declared:

“President @officialABAT is running the Most Useless Government in the history of Useless Governments!!! How many more Nigerians have to die due to this abysmal level of incompetence? Nigerians wake up everyday to lament one tragedy of the other. Unbearably heart-wrenching!!!”

In a follow-up post, Macaroni highlighted the lack of a presidential address.

“Zero Accountability, Zero Responsibility!!! I cannot for the life of me understand how 40 Nigerians have been confirmed dead in Jos and the President of the Country does not deem it necessary to address the people!! We are talking about 40 Human beings!!! Hello???”

Rapper and music executive MI Abaga, who was born in the state, expressed deep sorrow over the latest tragedy in a region that has suffered repeated violence.

“My heart is broken.. we have been through too much in Jos! The tragedy is too painful and the evil is too pervasive.. May the souls of the departed rest in peace.”

The reactions come amid reports of gunmen storming the community and opening fire indiscriminately. Security forces have been deployed, but details on arrests or the exact motive remain limited as investigations continue. Plateau State has seen a surge in attacks linked to farmer-herder clashes and banditry in recent years, with this incident adding to a long list of violent episodes.

The celebrities’ posts have gone viral, sparking broader conversations online about insecurity, governance and the emotional toll on citizens. Many fans echoed the stars’ frustration, calling for stronger government action and an end to the cycle of violence in the Middle Belt region.

The entertainers’ bold comments have amplified public demand for accountability and highlighted how the Jos massacre has deeply affected even those far removed from the scene.
