2021 Prophecy To Omije Ojumi Resurfaces After Death

There was widespread grief and heavy emotions on social media as news broke that popular gospel singer and evangelist Bunmi Akinaanu, widely known as Omije Ojumi, has passed away.

The gospel singer, famed for her soul-stirring song “Omije Oju Mi,” reportedly died at the age of 46 after battling an undisclosed illness.

According to reports, Omije Ojumi took ill sometime in 2025, with sources linking the sickness to complications affecting her leg. Despite efforts by loved ones and supporters to help her recover, she sadly did not make it.

Her passing came as a shock to many, especially as it occurred just a day after popular cleric Pastor Segun Arole publicly asked after her health.

In an emotional Instagram post, he said:

“Where is Singer Omije Oju mi?. We heard that she was sick and we donated money. You can’t tell us to be praying without knowing her condition. What are the Yoruba Gospel artistes doing about this? People close to her should please update us about her situation. If she needs more money for medical treatment, let us know. This woman must not d!e.”

Sadly, the feared outcome became reality hours later.

Following the announcement of her death, fans flooded social media with emotional reactions, with many expressing regret, shock, and deep sorrow.

One @Mary Nurpsey wrote, “OMG ohhhhh no maybe if she had listened to that person that sent her the prophecy of her sickness back then this would have been avoided.”

Another user, @Olowoone, said, “The hilarious Yoruba prophet saw this coming cause he made a video 2 days back asking about her health issues. This is really heartbreaking.”

Others focused on faith and reflection.

@modupe_ola_mii wrote, “I believe she is in a better place, no more pains.” @ellamiddy2023 added “After all the struggle to make a better living. Omoh, may we not die before our time. Rest easy ma’am.”

@iam_lope_mi wrote simply, “Life is indeed fragile.” While @softly.feyii asked in shock, “Oh my God! Ahhh, what’s going on this New Year?”

Omije Ojumi’s death comes at a time when the Yoruba entertainment industry is still grappling with several recent losses.
