MC Fish and his new girlfriend Gbemso have issued a firm joint statement clearing the air after backlash over comments he made about finally erasing his ex-wife, Nollywood actress Anita Joseph, from his life.
The pair insisted their words were misinterpreted and that no threats of harm were ever made. In the clarifying message shared on their Instagram page, they stated:
“For the record, there were never any threats. The statement ‘erase you completely from my life’ referred to bringing this chapter to a legal close through divorce, not to any form of harm.”
They revealed ongoing frustration with the divorce process. According to the statement, they have repeatedly requested a copy of the marriage certificate so the legal process can move forward. They also claimed the phone number provided on a cease-and-desist letter does not exist.
MC Fish and Gbemso questioned why they should pay between N100,000 and N200,000 in additional costs to obtain a document that already exists and is in Anita Joseph’s possession.
“If the intention is truly to move on, providing the document would allow the legal process to proceed,” the statement read.
They emphasised their preference for the courts over public drama:
“Our focus remains on resolving this matter through the proper legal process, not on Social media.”
The clarification comes after MC Fish publicly called out Anita for allegedly frustrating the divorce proceedings so he could secure his freedom.

The couple’s marriage ended amid claims of mutual unfaithfulness, with Anita confirming the split in December 2025 and speaking about a season of pain and healing.
Photos of MC Fish with Gbemso earlier this year had already drawn intense online reactions. Gbemso has previously maintained that she met him when he was single and did not wreck the marriage.
