Even If I Tried, I Couldn’t Make a Bad Film — Omoni Oboli Talks Purpose, Faith & Mastery of Her Craft on New Podcast

Nollywood star, filmmaker and entrepreneur Omoni Oboli has opened up about the mindset, faith and creative discipline that drive her success, boldly declaring, “I can’t make a bad film even if I tried.”

The award-winning filmmaker made the statement during her appearance on Africa and Everywhere: Conversations with Oge podcast, where she discussed her journey through Nollywood, entrepreneurship, storytelling and purpose.

With her latest movie, Love In Every Word 2, now racking up over 16 million views, Omoni reflected on the years of reinvention that shaped her craft. Speaking with host Oge, she touched on everything from the business of filmmaking to her unwavering belief in excellence.

Omoni emphasised that she refuses to limit her abilities, saying:

“I’m an actor, I don’t want to harness that part of me; I don’t want people to say jack of trades. Jack of all trades, period!”

She also expressed strong optimism about the future of Nollywood, predicting a major transformation in the industry.

“There’s going to be a shift. God is going to do something in Nollywood that we haven’t seen before. I know it’s going to happen within the next 5 to 10 years for sure. Government just has to do better.”

Despite her humility, Omoni admitted she carries an inner conviction that fuels her delivery.

“I’m not the best, but I think I’m the best — let’s leave that.”

She further credited divine backing for her progress:

“I’m not the hardest worker; God just says, I just want to favour this person.”

The actress and filmmaker reaffirmed her commitment to purpose-driven storytelling, explaining that balancing directing, acting, business and faith is at the centre of her work ethic. Her appearance on the podcast highlighted a career built on resilience, vision and unshakeable belief in the power of stories.
