Controversial social commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM) has issued a public apology following his shocking physical altercation with Mr Jollof aboard a United Nigeria Airlines flight. The incident, which caused a major delay for passengers, quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions online.
In a new video shared on social media, VDM appeared with his head and arm heavily bandaged, but in a twist, he later revealed it was all for humour.
Opening the video, he addressed Nigerians directly:
“Good morning Nigerians. I really want to apologize for what happened yesterday at the United Nigeria Airlines. What happened yesterday wasn’t supposed to happen. I will take full responsibility for it.”
Moments later, VDM called in a doctor and asked him to remove the bandages. As the “doctor” peeled them off, VDM burst into laughter, saying the stunt was only to lighten the mood.
“I’m pretty sure I made you laugh… I just wanted it to be a little funny. But at the end of the day it’s actually not really funny. What happened yesterday was avoidable… it was irresponsible of me.”
Admitting that his actions disrupted other passengers with important engagements, he added:
“A lot of people on that flight have important things to do, but because of that little irresponsibility from my end, their flight was delayed. I really want to apologize for everything. I’m sorry.”
He went on to apologize again to every passenger on the flight, Nigerians who look up to him, and those who expressed disappointment online. Though some fans had described the fight as “cruise”, VDM insisted he genuinely regrets the incident.
However, in his usual unfiltered manner, VDM joked that he could not guarantee he would never fight again, only that it wouldn’t be in public spaces where people are disrupted.
“I can’t guarantee it won’t happen again, but I can guarantee it won’t be on a plane, buses, or public places that will stop people from getting to their destination or places of interests.”
The video has since sparked a fresh round of conversations online about celebrity conduct, accountability, and the growing culture of “contentifying” real-life conflicts.
