Sammy Ojeogwu, brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, has been released on bail after spending several days in police custody.
The release comes after the Nigeria Police Force (FCT Command) confirmed Sammy’s arrest and arraignment. According to a statement by SP Josephine Adeh of the FCT Police, Sammy was arrested in Lagos on a court warrant following a petition dated 28 October 2025. The alleged offences against him included criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, criminal intimidation, theft and cyber-bullying.
“Upon receipt of the petition… Mr Samuel Ojeogwu was arrested in Lagos… and subsequently conveyed to Abuja for further investigation”, the spokesman said.
Though the police statement indicated he was remanded pending fulfilment of bail conditions, the exact terms of his bail have not been publicly disclosed.
Media outlets confirmed that Sammy’s bail was granted, describing it as a “relief” for Regina Daniels, who has been vocal in expressing concern for her brother and his whereabouts.
The case is deeply intertwined with Regina Daniels’ ongoing marital crisis with Ned Nwoko. Regina’s camp alleges that her arrest and the legal pressures on her brother are parts of a wider campaign of intimidation linked to her attempts to exit the marriage.
More specifically, Regina accused Nwoko’s camp of orchestrating her brother’s detention to force her compliance. She said:
“What was my brother’s offence? Fighting for his baby sister because his in-law would always beat her up? … By law, there is no tangible case against Sammy West! Ned Nwoko is bigger than the whole of Nigeria, that’s what this means.”
Sammy’s release now marks a turning point in what has become one of the most talked-about celebrity family sagas in Nigeria, blending elements of personal conflict, legal tussles, and political undercurrents.
