Nollywood superstar Funke Akindele has strongly debunked viral claims that she snubbed Fuji legend Wasiu Alabi, popularly known as Pasuma, at Fathia Balogun’s birthday celebration. The actress dismissed the edited video making rounds on social media as misleading and driven by negativity, insisting she warmly greeted and even danced with the musician.
The controversy erupted after an X user shared a short clip captioned “Moment Funke Akindele snubbed Pasuma in public. This is not looking good at all.” The edited footage showed Pasuma seated at a table looking at his phone while Akindele exchanged pleasantries with the celebrant, Fathia Balogun, creating the false impression of a deliberate snub.
However, longer unedited videos from the crowded indoor event quickly surfaced, revealing the full story. In the complete footage, Funke Akindele is seen approaching Pasuma, greeting him warmly, standing close, smiling, and engaging in friendly conversation before moving on to greet other guests. She later addressed the drama directly in her statement.
“Snub? Hell no. Stop the negativity pls. I saw him, greeted him, danced with him. Pasuma is my egbon. Please, you all should stop this evil.”
The event itself was a star-studded affair also attended by TikTok personality Ashabi Olose and other industry heavyweights. Supporters have praised her for addressing the issue promptly and shutting down what they call “manufactured negativity.”
This latest clarification highlights the speed at which selective clips can spread online and the importance of context in celebrity interactions. As more full videos continue to circulate, the narrative has shifted from alleged snub to a simple case of edited mischief.
