The family of late Nollywood actor Francis Duru has warned the public to ignore unauthorised burial flyers and rumours circulating online about his funeral arrangements.

In an official statement shared on his verified Instagram page, the family said all genuine updates will come only through that page and other official channels. The post was signed by his son Ebuka Duru, his daughter Onyekachi Duru, and his sister Anthonia Chenyi (née Duru).

“Kindly disregard all misleading flyers and incorrect details, including false statements regarding our state of origin and LGA, currently circulating regarding the funeral arrangements for our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, Chief Francis Duru,” the statement read.

They added that official information, including details for any service of songs or night of tributes, will be communicated exclusively by the family.

“We kindly ask the public, friends, and well-wishers to disregard any unauthorized posts or rumors.”

The family also expressed gratitude for the messages of support received since his death.

“We express our deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love, prayers, and condolence messages from family, friends, colleagues, fans, and representatives of the federal & State Government during this time.”

Duru died on October 23, 2026, at the age of 57 after a brief illness. His family announced the news on his Instagram page that morning, thanking fans for their prayers and love. He was widely known for his role as Ahanna in the 1995 film Rattlesnake. In August 2024 the family had already lost his 15-year-old son, Ifeanyi. Months before his own death, Duru had publicly dismissed a viral video that claimed he was critically ill, calling the footage fabricated.
