Nigerian journalist Kemi Olunloyo has called for Mohbad’s assets to be locked up until a DNA test settles the paternity of his son, Liam, insisting the late singer did not father the child.
She made the claims in a video posted on her social media page, reacting to reports that Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, had asked activist VeryDarkMan to comment on the matter. Olunloyo said she raised the DNA issue as far back as 2023 and had discussed it with Aloba during an interview.
“Everything is not VDM, VDM, VDM,” she said.
She urged the family to hire a private lawyer and keep the estate frozen.
“Lock up that boy’s asset, make sure Liam gets nothing, Wunmi gets nothing, nobody gets anything.”
Olunloyo questioned earlier DNA and toxicology reports and said testing does not have to be complicated.
“DNA test is not rocket science. DNA swabs,” she added.
Reacting to reports of a secret DNA test scheduled for Saturday, she demanded the location be made public.
“Location, we need to know the location. What’s happening?”
She also challenged Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi (Wunmi).
“Wunmi, why is it so hard for you to do the DNA for Liam? Because Liam was not fathered by Mohbad, you know that, I investigated you,” she alleged.
The comments land amid an active paternity dispute. Mohbad died on September 12, 2023. His father has long pushed for a court-supervised DNA test on Liam. An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court has been handling the matter, with proceedings previously adjourned to November 16, 2026. The family has also objected to aspects of recent testing arrangements, including plans involving a United States laboratory and questions over compliance with a May 2026 court order designating the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre.
