Former Big Brother Naija star Kesiena Tony Adjekpovu, known as Kess, says the show does not end when the cameras go off. He says it follows you out the door and makes ordinary life harder, whether you lift the trophy or not.
The Season 7 housemate wrote on X:
“Big Brother makes your life harder. Winner or not, the moment you leave that house, you’re dealing with a version of life that is far more complicated than the one you left behind.”
He was reacting to fellow ex-housemate Danboskid, whose real name is Daniel Olatunji, after Danboskid opened up about his living situation and said things had not been going well. Danboskid said he was tired of keeping up an image other people built for him. He also said he was not begging for pity or cash, only for honest advice and support.

Kess did not stop at the headline line. He said former housemates hear plenty of “well done” and still have to fight for attention and work.
“Everywhere, words of encouragement. Send money too,” he wrote.
Then he put a number on the scramble.
“Big Brother Naija has dished out 249 housemates in 11 seasons. Competition inside and outside the show.”
In his telling, the house is only the first race. The second one starts the day you walk back into the real world.
Season 7 winner Phyna jumped in after quoting Tochi of Lagos, who used his own post-show life as the warning. Tochi wrote:
“If you’re a Bbnaija Ex housemate and you’re going through a rough time, listen. Pack up all that ‘I am a celebrity’ nonsense and lock it inside a box.. come out and hustle, if not you will cry more than a new born baby.”
He said he has already dropped the house identity.
“I have even forgotten I went on that show since 2024, I see myself as a businessman now.. destiny differs not everyone is destined to make it from the show, keep your head up and live your truth, surround yourself with people that supports, motivate and encourage you, not people that will use ‘you know you’re now a celeb’ to block all your ears.”
He closed with an advice.
“When people see you, let them not see you only as an Ex housemate but also a hustler with values trying to make it.. favor always meet a man in motion.”
Phyna said that was the truth people keep dodging.
“Finally someone said it. I thought they said we are stars and we build brand, and that you have to just carry the ‘celebrity’ tag on your head and wait for one brand deal, since most of them decided to measure bbn stars by the number of deal they have.”
She mocked the idea that entering the house means you no longer hustle hard. She also tore into inflated endorsement talk.
“You all should keep deceiving yourselves with brand deals. Popular brands will sign you with 5m and tell you to announce 50million. Then you as the star will feed on bragging rights and title with empty pockets after management takes their 25% from the 5m.”
That warning lands on a familiar BBNaija pattern. Fame arrives fast. Bills, public judgment and the pressure to look successful arrive just as fast. Kess himself has lived in that glare since 2022, including a very public fight with his wife, American singer Angel Dee, over alleged infidelity and money.
